A big change has come to 56 Baltimore Avenue with the opening of Hobos Restaurant and Bar. Hobos can be found on the site formerly occupied by S.O.B.s and will be opening the end of April for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The restaurant logo is based upon the sign language used by travelers in the 1930s and offers a warm welcome and good food to everyone no matter what your dietary requirements. If you want to sit with a newspaper and a French press of freshly brewed Rainbow Java Coffee or relax with friends and family over great food, Hobos is the perfect place to start your day or to wind down after it with our signature cocktail menu.

The head of the kitchen is Executive Chef, Gretchen Hanson who describes her culinary style as Global Eco-Fusion, a celebration of the subtle simplicity of street food from around the world. The menu focuses on a mélange of the cuisines of Mexico, Europe, and the Mediterranean with a focus on locally grown produce.

Our breakfast menu will carry old favorites such as scrapple and homemade organic grits, always expect a twist on the expected with such things as sausage and cheese chimichangas and French toast stuffed with honey sweetened ricotta. Lunch combines delicious wraps and sandwiches with Quesadillas, Tamales, beautiful plated salads and a host of spreads and dips. Our dine in and take out meals will be made to order but a wide selection of pre-prepared food will be available to those on the go for lunch and dinner in our carry-out market.

Hobos is placing a firm emphasis on the concept of community and will be using organic, locally sourced and Fair Trade produce and products wherever possible. Vegetarians, vegans and anyone with special dietary requirements will find custom menus detailing all ingredients as well as their sources.

Hobos is sure to become one of the chillest places to hang out this summer with al fresco dining in the alley, murals by local artist Carly Thurman and one of the largest covered outside seating spaces in Rehoboth Beach. Hobos will also feature regular wine tastings, an extensive beer selection, live music (including Viki Dee night on Thursdays) and a great kid friendly menu.

And if you can’t make it downtown, Hobos will deliver to your place of work or play – desk or deckchair. You will also be able to find us every Tuesday at the Rehoboth Beach Farmer’s Market.

Hobos, where you go when you’re not home.
